OSIT STEM Grant Opportunities

Designated STEM School Grant

Designated STEM Schools RFA FY27
Eligible Applicants: Any current Nevada Governor Designated STEM Schools
Funding Available: $300,000
Due Date: May 8, 2026
Funding Period: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
Structure: Reimbursement
Purpose: Governor’s Designated STEM Schools may use funds to advance the school’s STEM initiatives. Proposed projects must be supported by a STEM strategic plan.

K-5 STEM Grant

K-5 STEM Grant RFA FY27
Eligible Applicants: Nevada’s public and charter elementary schools
Funding Available: $250,000
Due Date: May 8, 2026
Funding Period: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
Structure: Reimbursement
Purpose: Increase access to high-quality STEM for elementary students.

Regional STEM Network Grant

STEM Networks RFA FY27
Eligible Applicants: Nevada’s public and charter elementary schools
Funding Available: $250,000
Due Date: August 7, 2026
Funding Period: through June 30, 2027
Structure: Reimbursement
Purpose: Strengthen awareness, opportunities, and retention in Nevada’s STEM education and workforce pathways.

STEM Pathways Grant

STEM Pathways Grant RFA FY27
Eligible Applicants: Nevada’s public and charter middle and high schools
Funding Available: $250,000
Due Date: May 8, 2026
Funding Period: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027
Structure: Reimbursement
Purpose: Increase access to high-quality, career-connected STEM for middle and high school students.

Another round of funding will open in the Fall of 2026, if funding remains. 

STEM Leaders Academy 2026-2027

The STEM Leaders Academy (SLA) is a unique opportunity for schools interested in making a sustainable shift to high-quality STEM learning. A blend of professional learning, work sessions, and consultation, SLA guides school leadership teams through the Nevada STEM Framework and long-range strategic planning. School teams finish the academy with an understanding of high-quality STEM learning experiences, systems change skills, and an action plan and up to $25,000 to launch the plan. Academy completers go on to apply for and successfully earn the Governor's STEM School Designation.

Nevada STEM Framework

The Nevada STEM Framework describes the attribute of high-quality STEM schools. The Framework is used to evaluate schools which apply for the Governor STEM School Designation. It is also used by schools for self-evaluation, reflection, and strategic planning.

STEM Teacher/Advocate of the Year Award

OSIT has announced the 2025-2026 school year STEM Teacher and STEM Advocate of the Year award winners. This year’s applicant pool had an abundance of impressive STEM champions. Nevada’s STEM ecosystems are stronger for the passionate advocacy happening at a variety of levels. Nevada’s students are experiencing rigorous, unique, and high-quality STEM learning experiences. Congratulations to the winners from OSIT and the Regional STEM Network committees; we are pleased to highlight these exceptional Nevadans.
